Pilot Kneeboards & Accessories — Stay Organised in the Cockpit

A kneeboard is a simple but highly effective cockpit organisation tool. By keeping your charts, approach plates, clearances, and checklists strapped to your thigh, a kneeboard reduces the time you spend searching for information and keeps your hands free for flying the aircraft. Whether you're a student pilot learning to manage cockpit workload or an experienced aviator who values a tidy, efficient flight deck, a good kneeboard makes every flight more organised.

Traditional Paper Kneeboards

Traditional kneeboards hold paper charts, approach plates, and notepads in a clip or ring-binder format. They're lightweight, simple, and reliable — no batteries required. Many pilots prefer a paper kneeboard for its tactile simplicity, particularly during training when writing clearances and copying ATIS by hand is a core skill. Look for models with a built-in notepad clip, pen holder, and a comfortable leg strap that stays secure throughout the flight.

iPad and Tablet Kneeboards

As aviation apps like OzRunways, ForeFlight, and Garmin Pilot have become standard tools for GA pilots, iPad and tablet kneeboards have become equally essential. A good tablet kneeboard holds your device securely at a comfortable viewing angle, protects it from vibration and accidental drops, and keeps it accessible without occupying panel space. Look for models with cutouts for charging cables and home buttons, and a secure leg strap that accommodates different thigh sizes.

Kneeboard Accessories

Complete your kneeboard setup with the right accessories — replacement notepads, pen holders, chart clips, and leg straps. Keeping your kneeboard stocked and in good condition is a small but important part of pre-flight preparation.
