Aircraft Polish — Restore Gloss and Protect Your Aircraft's Finish

A quality aircraft polish does two jobs: it removes surface defects like oxidation, fine scratches, and UV haze, and it lays down a protective barrier that shields the underlying paint from further degradation. Used regularly, the right polish keeps your aircraft looking sharp and extends the life of the finish significantly.

Cutting Compounds and Polishes

For aircraft with heavily oxidised or faded paintwork, a cutting compound removes the damaged surface layer and reveals fresh paint beneath. Follow with a finer finishing polish to refine the surface and remove any light marring left by the compound. This two-stage process delivers the best results on older or neglected finishes.

Finishing Polish and Wax

A finishing polish refines the surface to a high gloss without removing significant material — ideal for regular maintenance on aircraft that are already in good condition. Top with an aviation wax or paint sealant to lock in the shine, repel water, and provide UV protection between polishing sessions.

Suitable Surfaces

Aircraft polish is suitable for painted aluminium airframes — the most common surface on GA aircraft — as well as fibreglass and composite fairings, cowlings, and control surfaces. Gel coat on fibreglass aircraft and floatplane hulls also responds well to polishing. For unpainted polished aluminium, use a dedicated metal polish for best results.
