Our Aircraft’s Story

VH-OQE, an Airbus A380-842, first flew on March 22, 2009, and entered service with Qantas in December 2009, primarily operating long-haul international routes such as those to Los Angeles, London, and Dubai. It provided exceptional passenger comfort and service until its retirement in 2020. In 2024, it was repurposed into PlaneTags, preserving its legacy for aviation enthusiasts.

Qantas, established in 1920, is Australia's flagship airline known for its pioneering spirit and commitment to excellence in aviation. As one of the early adopters of the Airbus A380, Qantas introduced the superjumbo to its fleet in 2008, using it to enhance its long-haul capabilities on key international routes. The A380s became synonymous with luxury and comfort, featuring advanced inflight entertainment and spacious cabins, solidifying Qantas' reputation as a leader in global air travel.

Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag.
