David Clark M-7A Microphone

The Model M-7A is an electret, noise-cancelling microphone designed to replace carbon and amplified dynamic microphones. It delivers clear and crisp voice transmission but requires a DC bias voltage to function. Most modern aviation communication equipment provides this necessary voltage. If you're uncertain, check your radio's technical manual or consult a local avionics shop.
