Planetags MH-47G CHINOOK 05-03761
Product description
One Chinook, three chapters of service
Keep a piece of nearly six decades of Army aviation history with a PlaneTags MH-47G Chinook 05-03761. Cut from the helicopter’s authentic aircraft skin, each individually numbered tag preserves material from a machine that evolved from a Vietnam-era heavy-lift Chinook into a special operations aircraft serving with the Night Stalkers.
Its story spans three identities: CH-47A 66-19043, CH-47D 82-23767 and, finally, MH-47G 05-03761. This collectable connects those generations of service in one piece of genuine aircraft material.
From Vietnam-era lift to Night Stalker missions
The aircraft began life as CH-47A 66-19043, serving during the Vietnam era. It was later rebuilt as CH-47D 82-23767 before being transformed into MH-47G 05-03761 and assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), known as the Night Stalkers.
The MH-47G was equipped for demanding long-range missions, with in-flight refuelling capability and systems supporting low-altitude flight and operations in poor visibility. Across its service life, this helicopter adapted to new technologies, roles and challenges alongside Army aviation itself.
Preserving an extraordinary airframe
Much of this aircraft’s operational history remains classified. When PlaneTags founder Dave Hall located it in Delaware, it was relocated for dismantling and preservation.
During that work, the team found bullet holes in parts of the airframe. The circumstances behind the damage remain unknown, but the discovery adds a tangible reminder that its history extends beyond registrations and specifications. These PlaneTags preserve a part of that story without claiming to reveal the missions behind it.

Important Notice – Please Read Carefully
PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.
