Product description

Own a piece of MiG-29 Fulcrum 32 Blue

Connect with an early chapter of Cold War aviation through a PlaneTags MiG-29 Fulcrum collectable made from 32 Blue. Built in the early 1980s as one of the first 70 MiG-29s, this air-superiority fighter was part of the Soviet effort to rival aircraft such as the American F-16 and F/A-18.

MotoArt has preserved its original aluminium skin as individually numbered PlaneTags. Each piece carries the character of an aircraft whose story stretches from Kyrgyzstan to the United States, through years of service and storage.

From Kyrgyzstan to Quincy

Serial number 2960507662, known as bort 32 Blue, began serving with the Kyrgyzstan Air Force in the early 1990s. Its ventral fins beneath each tailplane identify it as one of the earliest Fulcrums, representing the first generation of the Soviet Union’s fourth-generation fighter.

When Kyrgyzstan reduced its MiG fleet, the aircraft was sold to Air USA, founded by Don Kirlin of Quincy, Illinois. It travelled aboard an Antonov An-124 to Estonia and was later seized in transit before finally reaching the United States in 1999.

Registered N6394K, it was stored at Quincy Regional Airport and became one of America’s first privately owned MiG-29s. Its later ownership is listed as Air USA / Ravn Aerospace under Don Kirlin.

Preserving the aircraft’s material

Working with Don Kirlin, MotoArt’s team visited Quincy to recover authentic panels from 32 Blue. The material was carefully documented and cut before being taken to the workshop in Torrance, California, for preservation and laser engraving.

  • Authentic aluminium: Made from the original aircraft skin, not simply stamped metal.
  • Individual character: Colour, thickness and signs of wear reflect the section of fuselage used, making identical tags rare.
  • Limited-edition collectable: Each tag is numbered and comes attached to a display card.
  • Carry or display: A durable metal ring allows attachment to keys or luggage, or inclusion in your aviation display.

Keep it with your everyday keys or place it in your Cold War aviation collection as a tangible link to this early-production Fulcrum.

The Fulcrum’s place in aviation history

Developed in the 1970s by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau, the MiG-29 combined twin Klimov RD-33 engines with a distinctive blended-wing shape and twin tails. The type became known for its helmet-mounted sights and R-73 missiles, its ability to operate from rough airfields and forward bases, and service in more than 30 nations across Eastern Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Important Notice – Please Read Carefully

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.
