Polarized lenses use an optical filter to cut glare — great for fishing, but a serious hazard in the cockpit. Many glass panel instruments and cockpit displays have polarized faces that become unreadable through polarized lenses. Your iPad will also black out in portrait orientation. For pilots, non-polarized is the only safe choice.
